Ventura County FC vs Houston Dynamo 2 | Sunday September 8th
Achara’s Bicycle Kick Keeps Top 4 Hopes Alive
Dynamo’s Diego Gonzalez’s brace in the first half meant we would have another steep hill to climb in our pursuit of hosting a playoff game. Ruben Ramos Jr. put us back on track at the hour mark before Ifu Achara, on loan from Houston, evened things up in the 78th minute. VCFC claimed the extra point in the penalty shootout through Brady Scott’s heroics.
In the previous three away games, Ventura County FC have found themselves down by a one or two goal deficit in the second half. In each of those games, VCFC have returned home with at least a point. Going beyond that, the club’s last away loss came back in May against the Vancouver Whitecaps 2. Road warriors? Just maybe. This will be crucial for Matt Taylor’s team come October as they inch closer to playoffs.
