LAFC II vs Ventura County FC | Sunday July 14th

Experience on the Road Proves Vital for Two Points in SoCal Clásico

We traveled to Fullerton on Sunday afternoon to take on LAFC II in the second rendition of the SoCal Clásico.

A brilliant solo effort from David Díaz put us ahead after 15 minutes but LAFC II quickly responded before half-time. Tucker Lepley provided a mature performance as he made his return to the starting XI.

The game concluded after an exciting 90 minutes, meaning both teams had to settle for a draw. However, the young and experienced penalty takers went 5/5 and forced LAFC II to miss the decisive last kick. We returned home with the extra point and climbed above Vancouver Whitecaps 2 into third place.

We return home this Sunday in what proves to be another major opportunity to put pressure on the two teams above us in the standings. After signing a short term agreement with the LA Galaxy first team for Saturday’s game against FC Dallas, Ruben Ramos Jr. was also named to the USYNT roster to compete in the U20 CONCACAF Championship. Group play begins in Mexico on Friday night against Jamaica. Good luck, Ruben!
